Converting Usp. 45 to 10mm

Wanting to drag my dad into doing this conversion with me.

I want the larger frame of the .45 over the .40 model, plus I do not think the .40's magazine will accomodate the longer 10mm round.

What say you, the experts, about such a conversion?

My father is an expert machinist, and has made firearms before so it will be more his experience than mine, but sounds like a fun project to do with him anyway.

    be careful...that 10 MM operates at much higher pressures than the 45. Most 45 barrels are unsupported, while most 10mm's are supported. I would research this subject a little more before you go retrofitting a 10MM barrel into that HK.

    The USP is a good sturdy gun and ought to take the pressure... for a while, at least.

    Two things to think about:
    Will the .45 breechface and extractor feed and extract the smaller diameter 10mm?
    Will the .45 magazine hold and feed the smaller diameter 10mm?
    Or are you and Dad ready to modify them as well as building a new barrel?

    Bruce Gray has been working on a 10mm conversion to the P220 for about two years now. Would he do it on a H&K? I don't know but he might talk to you about what it would take.
