Burris Scope, Junk?

Anybody familiar with this website, www.4scopes.com? I visited the website this morning to look at scopes. When I clicked on the Burris logo, a message popped up apologizing that they were no longer Burris dealers because of quality issues. They also said that they could no longer recommend any Burris scopes in good faith because of such issues. They recommended Sightron, Zeiss, and I believe Trijicon, and explained their optics were equal or superior to Burris with the addition of having better warranty than Burris? This goes against anything I've ever heard or read about Burris. I'm just wondering if perhaps, Nononsense or JustC would care to confirm or debunk these statements. Thanks

    I have seen that as well. I believe they never carried Burris scopes and it is simply a marketing tool to get you to buy what they do sell. Burris is still sold by Bear Basin, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Natchez, Midway, Brownell's, Scope's 'n' More and others. That should be a clue.

    I would take the word of a company that has been in business a while, like Burris, over a new start-up mail order special catalog. Anything I have ever had in the line of Burris in the last 30 years has been TOP SHELF.

    After going to the website, and reading what the dealer had to say, this is my take....

    They are getting their pocket greased by one of the other manufacturers, to push their brand, for market share. There once was a sporting goods dealer who done the same thing, pushing Knight muzzleloaders over Thompson Center in my area. He would blatently make false claims as to the dire quality of the TC, which is totally horse hooey! Needless to say since he didn't know his business, and pushed to have his pockets greased by the manufacturers, instead of selling product that was everything one would want, he is no longer in business. He also pushed Tasco, and Simmons scopes as being on par with Leupold, and Burris...FYI

    Burris probably won't sell to them because of some kind of business
    practice that they use now or in the past.

    Thanks Guys. I was a little taken back by what I was reading on the website. I couldn't really believe it was true, but I wanted some verification of my suspicions. Thanks Again.

    One was suggested to me by forum members and I liked it so much I cought two more. Great scope for the money.

    I bought a Burris Signature last year and it has pleased me as much as the others I have. I don't see a quality issue with Burris and have not heard of one. Burris would bend over backwards to make it right, even if there was an issue.

    Some folks are just robots who are programmed to know nothing other than Leupold leupold leupold. I have however found scopes I like better,..such as Burris

    Every Burris optical product I've ever tried has been good, and IMO they are one of the best in terms of quality for the dollar.

    I've never heard anything negative regarding Burris, and in a business this competitive, if Burris weren't up to snuff, I think that would catch up to them.

    Burris (like most of the premier scope makers) also offers extremely good warrantees on their products, so if you were unlucky enough to get a bad scope, I'm sure they would take care of it for you.

    In short, I'm somewhat skeptical of this particular dealer's claim as well. Not only have they NOT eliminated all Burris products from their lineup (eg http://www.4scopes.com/burris_speed_dot.htm), but they are ALSO bashing Leupold too!:

    I don't see the reason for this sort of thing. If you don't think the product is good, then don't stock it. If you think one product stands out, its fair to say that (and they do, with Sightron, which they rave about). But no need to bash the makers.

    There are also some other bizarre things on the website that are a little weird (eg http://www.4scopes.com/porn.htm ). OK got it, you don't like porn. . .what the heck does that have to do with rifle scopes?

    I just purchased a Burris Sig Select 4-16 for my 20" AR. I plan on mounting it tomorrow and hope to get it to the range soon.

    I am surprised Burris hasn't put the legal hammer down on them for that kind of comment.

    This is a long way of commenting on Burris, but...

    The Japanese were never slouches at producing quality optics, and made excellent range-finders during WW2, as well as some of the best telephoto lenses in the post-war market. At least one Japanese optical maker leased Burris patents, which says a lot about how the Japanese optical people regarded Burris.

    I've had personal experience with only one Burris scope (thought highly of it), but like most shooters, I also collect information from other shooters who volunteer their personal experiences with various products, and I've never heard anyone speak negatively about Burris.

    I have a couple signatures and they preform with anything i have had.
    I am of the belief that they have lifetime warranty. I agree with the above posts..putting down someone else's product to try and sell your own doesnt sit well with me

    If you noticed that company is stirring you to much higher priced optics than the Burris line would cost you. They may make a higher profit margin off these as compared to Burris. All of these other scopes are in the $800- infinity price range.
