Model 1895 Mauser Firing Pin Issue

I just purchased a very nice customized Model 1895 Mauser. I noticed that upon opening the bolt the firing pin extends just slightly beyond the end of the bolt where the cartridge head would be located.
I loaded a shell (.243) into the chamber both with the safety on and with the safety off...it has a timney trigger. With the safety on, the primer does not show a small dimple. With the safety off the primer does have a small dimple from the firing pin extention. Is this normal? I would think not and could be dangerous! What is the fix? THANKS!!!
