Military Weapon
Does anyone know of a military weapon described like this: 12 inches overall length, it has two opposing barrels, the barrels unscrew and the ammunition slides into the barrel, the center piece has a wooden grip, one barrel has a sling attachment, the firing mechanism is operated by sliding back a spring-loaded thumb latch, it fires 16 ga shotgun shells. I recognize such a weapon would require a Class III FFL but I am wondering who would have made such a thing????

sounds like a prison zip gun--never heard of the military using anything in 16 gauge shotgun--but I suppose theres always a first. 0 -
The fact that the barrels unscrew as opposed to using a hinge of some sort and that the weapon is 16 gauge makes me think of a workshop gun. There were quite a few weapons of this type produced in the Philippines for use against the forces supporting dictator, and our one time best buddy (though not as good a friend as Saddam) Ferdinand Marcos. 0 -
It may be 12 ga if that makes any difference. The exact ga has not been determined but it is not 410 or 20. 0 -
One more thing, given the quality of the manufacturing, a zip gun has been ruled out. That is why I posed the question of military usage. 0 -
At this juncture we need a photo. 0 -
what you have is a hagen 20ga tear gas baton ..do not try to fire live 20ga out of it,,,it is for tear gas shells only..it has steel barrels and it can be used as a head cracking baton too..not military it was for police and security guards in the 40's-early 60's[;)] 0 -
forgot the 20ga shells had a smaller diameter rim for the hagen 0 -

Thank you very much for your help and the link! That Hagen is exactly what it is. Given that it was designed as a tear gas dispenser does it require a CLass III FFL to own?0 -
If it will accept a 12 gauge shotgun shell then it is an Any Other Weapon and subject to registration under the National Firearms Act. If it will only accept tear gas cartridges then it is a gas dispenser and not even classified as a firearm. 0
