10mm ammo

big king
just got some 3-d 220gr swc 10mm ammo... can anyone give me some info on these. i will be shooting them out of a glock 20 with a 6 in barrel and a eea witness.
would like to know muz.vel. ect.

    Well, I can't tell you what the velocity is, but your statement of them being lead SWC eliminates the glock. Shoot them out of your eaa but the polygon rifling of a glock barrel limits the number of rounds you can shoot with the glock as it will lead up fast, and if you get to much, will cause over pressures.

    I shoot lead out of my glocks all the time, but I clean the barrel religiously after 100 rounds when doing so.

    Don't know the specs on the 10mm ammo but 3D Ammo was factory reloaded ammo. Sportsman's Guide used to carry it some years ago. I shot probably 2000 rds of their 45 acp a couple 10 years ago. Not sure if they are still in business.

    I had no problems with it. They had a guarantee at that if you have any problems with the ammo they would take the unused portion back and replace it.

    Think I had 1 round out the 2000 I bought that failed to go off.

    You should be fine in either the EAA Witness or the revolver. If you want the velocities, you'll probably have to chronograph them yourself.

    As mentioned, using lead bullets in polygonal rifled Glock barrels is a no-no as the polygonal barrels have a propensity to lead up, and this can lead to high pressures and other problems. If you must shoot all lead, replacement 10mm barrels with conventional rifling aren't expensive or hard to find, eg:

    Some people do get away with shooting lead bullets through Glocks with careful and frequent barrel brushing/cleaning, but personally I don't think its worth the aggravation or risk.

    As a secondary matter, I suppose *ANY* all-lead 10mm bullets loaded to proper 10mm pressure levels are likely to promote barrel leading, but this shouldn't be that dangerous in conventional rifled barrels.
