Hi,

I need help getting started to identify and assesss the value of the 1911 and holster shown in the pictures. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I'm looking for a reliable 1911, open to cal.and make .But I won't be shooting in compition and don't want to tie up alot of dough. any suggestions? thanks Bob

    which Restaurant in the U.S. has the BEST STEAK[?]Who makes the Best car in the world[?]. same type Questions . I love series 70 COLTS but different Strokes for different Folks. Some want a carry gun some like to Plink some like BLING and some want a Match Pistol. IMHO in this case ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

    +1 for what perry shooter said. The other deciding factor is MONEY, you can spend all you want, and then you can spend more. I will say from experence that more money doesn't always mean better quality, but it's a good rule of thumb.

    Another +1 with Perry Shooter.

    It all depends on what you want, and how much you are willing to spend. If you want first class reliability, and accuracy, then people like Wilson Combat, Nite Hawk, Fusion Firearms, will build just about anything you want. A friend of mine recently put 2500 rounds thru a Wilson Supergrade at a Tactical Pistol course at Blackwater training facility...not a hickup. The instructors said that was because it was a Wilson. Many Para, and SA 1911's failed. However, there were no Glocks that failed.

    From my experience, for the dollar, and the amount the average person shoots, it is HARD to beat the PARA ORDNANCE PXT. The Kimbers are nothing but an over priced piece of junk, and the SA's just are not there yet.

    most on here have something different they like as the best, theres so many to choose from, its hard to go wrong with a good quality 45
    i ended up choosing the sig 1911 since i allready had a kimber 10
    springfield/colt/ed brown/nighthawk/para/detonics are all great guns

    Littlegun: Please give the guys a little more to work with. What do you want to do with the gun? Target and what type, Bullseye, PPC, Action Pistol? Carry, concealed or other? Home defense? Viewing (hea, look at my pretty gun)?

    There are a great many 1911's well under your max$ and built for specific use.

    I would be for self defense so has to be reliable not necessarly accurate but would have to be able to hit what I need to. That said I have a colt defender that I shoot well I have not had it long fired around 75 rounds in it has jammed once maybe needs breaking in but I also have 2 glocks that have had alot of rounds fired in them with out a single jam but I can't shoot them as well. I was really just asking opinions on the best and maybe what to stay away from

    Home defense, I assume? Stay away from autos altogether. Get a revolver. Many good, used S&W model 10's W/4in bbl over at the auction side. And guess what? You'll have over one thousand dollars left over! Best, Joe
