How do I know if my M1 Carbine magazine is preban?

I have a 30 round and a 15 round clips for my M1 Carbine. How do I tell if these are preban mags?

    all 15 round U.S. military magazines are preban and are marked as to who the contractor/ Maker is 99.9 % of all others no matter how many they hold. are preban unless you see a date no way to tell they were made after the ban.

    I live in NY. My M14 magazines are marked with mfr's that stopped making them well before the ban. I'm good to go.

    My M1 Carbine magazines are all 15 rounders, as the mags are wartime production. Good to go, also. I'm happy, because they are both 'profile correct' to the time when troops carried them.

    NY law allows magazines designed to hold greater than ten rounds if made prior to the ban. I've been asked by a range officer once about the age of the magazines. Mall ninja? Off duty cop? Who knows. He was Okay with my answer, and the grandfathering allowed. Probably just wanted to talk to the newbie at the range, or sumsuch. Best, Joe

    NY and several other states still have high capacity magazine bans in effect even after the Sunset of Slick Willies assualt weapons ban of 1994. In NY if mag. was manufactured before Sept. 12 1994 it is legal to own and use on a Post ban gun.

    And IIRC, you can buy & sell hi cap prebans among yourselves, which is why the "are these preban" comes up, correct? In CA, preban is used to mean owned before the CA state 2001 hi cap ban. In CA, I can not sell or give my legally owned prebans to anyone else. But the CA hi cap ban is full of holes - buying hi caps is not legal, but buying a hi cap repair "kit" is legal. Buying, selling, giving, importing hi caps is not legal, but possessing hi caps is not illegal.
