Colt US Army 1917 value

I have a colt 45 model 1917. I ran the serial number and it shows to be an officers model. The gun is in very good shape but unfortunatly it has been refinished. What would the value be on this gun?

    First off: There are no records of what unit (and of what rank) a firearm was issued to after it was shipped from the factory to the first military warehouse for distribution. Could have been carried by a machine-gun Sergeant, a courier Corporal on horseback, or a Naval Petty Officer guarding the gate at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Do you have paperwork stating that this particular gun (by it's SerNo) was carried by so-and-so officer? You get the idea.

    Now, the item in question: A re-finished WWI .45 revolver will usually sell from $350-$600 depending if the 'sharp eye' can, or can not spot any pits/smoothing of numbers/bore corrosion most of which usually occurs during the refinishing process. Best, Joe

    With the original smooth walnut grips, lanyard loop and refinished in it's original manner I'd say it's about a $450.00 gun as a shooter only. If it's poorly refinished it could be about a $250.00 gun. Just my "guesstimates".

    Thanks guys. I found a website that said thate serial number range was officer issued. That may not be true. It does have the original walnut grips and the lanyard loop. The refinish looks nice you can see a few pits and numbers and markings on the top are hard to read. The rest of it looks nice. Thanks for your help.
