Help in California!
I am a resident of California and would like to sell some hunting shotguns (12ga and 16ga) on Gun Broker. I have read the message board and I am still not sure what I can and can't do. Help!
Here are my questions:
As a resident of California can I legally list a shotgun for sale on Gun Broker?
Can I legally sell a shotgun out of state if it is shipped to an out of state FFL?
How do I verify the out of state buyer is or is using a licensed FFL?
Are there special requirements for shipping out of state?
Can I sell to a California resident if I go through one FFL or does it need to be two FFLs (I was told there needs to be 1 for the seller and 1 for the buyer)?
Are there special requirements for shipping within California?
Sorry for all the questions but what a mess this state is in.
Thanks,

Yes.
Can I legally sell a shotgun out of state if it is shipped to an out of state FFL?
Yes.

The buyer's dealer will provide you with a copy of his FFL or the FFL number, which you can check online with the BATFE.
Are there special requirements for shipping out of state?
Not for long guns. you can use any common carrier or US Mail.
*Can I sell to a California resident if I go through one FFL or does it need to be two FFLs (I was told there needs to be 1 for the seller and 1 for the buyer)?
You can sell to a CA buyer the same way as out of state; you need the buyer to provide you with an FFL. Since you do not have an FFL of your own you do not need to contact the CA Department of Justice to obtain a DOJ authorization number before shipping to the dealer.
Are there special requirements for shipping within California?
The same rules on shipping apply in CA as in other states.
See, there is nothing scary about it.0 -
