WTK: Did the westpoint 167 by Stevens have SN?

I've got a Westpoint Model 167 by Stevens Arms, Westerfeld, Mass, USA. Does this model have to have a serial number? I cannot find one on it anywhere. I know that it was made before 1960. It is also a pump.

  Serial numbers were not requried before 1968
