Taurus couldn't fix revolver
I have all the work orders and gunsmith opinions(The rep at taurus said,"gunsmiths don't know how to repair guns properly".) It was an easy fix but they didn't do it. I bought the pistol new in 1986 while in the Army. I guess the lifetime warr. ran out. Will probably make video for youtube showing all work orders and hold off on gunsmith repairing it, which he can do-mike at taurus. If nothing else it will be fun making it. I do think taurus makes a pretty good product, but they need to clean house in their repair center. Even the local ccw instructors shook their heads at what happened to me. They said i should burn a letter to corporate to complain. I think youtube is better option.

Ipso facto, a gun that breaks isn't a "pretty good product". Short of massive abuse, and barring ordinary wear to usual parts (eg mags, springs, etc) any firearm should last through tens of thousands of fired rounds, or a lifetime of normal use.
I'd be interested in hearing exactly what kind of gun this is, what the problem with it is, and why Taurus thinks they can't fix it. If they legitimately can't fix it (eg a warped or cracked revolver frame), they should offer you a suitable replacement gun, as is the practice with several other gun manufacturers.
In general, this sort of thing is why you want a good gun, instead of (or along with) a good warranty.
A warranty only means that the issuing company *may* try to fix its broken product. I say "may" because they may not honor their warranty, or the original company may be defunct and not able to honor it.
Assuming they try, there is no guarantee that they'll be able to fix the problem. Also, if the product itself is shoddy, it may well break again after being fixed or develop another problem.
Lastly, you may be out of pocket shipping costs to get it fixed, and shipping ANY gun can be a hassle. You will definitely not have use of the gun while its broken, or while its being fixed.0 -

What is the model, caliber, and chronic disorder with your revolver...symptoms...what is it/is it not doing?

First happened at range with daughter shooting. Thought it was a bad round. But happened to me later. Cylinder fails to rotate sometimes. It locks in place, timing is good, hardly any cylinder end play. So I unloaded and put slight pressure with thumb on cylinder as I dry fired and after 2 to 4 rotations it slips, trigger pulls and it just clicks. Even knucklehead me could see the extractor(star) was worn.The rotation hand looks fine though. Taurus had it 3 times and the second time it came back the work order said problem found-SIGHT resolution-Replaced. It is a model 65 with fixed sights. Call me stupid, but I didn't get that, yea I asked them how they replaced them but they wouldn't elaborate. I'm not here to criticize Taurus for the heck of it and I don't care about a replacement, I like this pistol. I also own a new pt111 9mm. I have defended taurus a few times in the past showing and letting people shoot this pistol, boy do I feel stupid now. I will eventually let the gunsmith fix it but I'm now showing it to people for the opposite reason. 0 -
Be careful when you defame someone. It's OK to express your (negative) opinion but be careful not to state something as a fact which could be arguable.
"I think their repair shop stinks" is OK.

Well, its perfectly fine to state your opinion or describe your experiences.
"Taurus guns wear out faster than others" may or may not be OK, but "In my experience, Taurus guns wear out faster than similar Smith guns" is fine, so long as it really has been your experience.
My personal experience with Taurus revolvers has been benign. I've never personally seen one with the various problems I've heard about. . .though that's not saying much, since in general I try to avoid them.
On the other hand, I've heard first hand quite a bit of bad stuff about them, PARTICULARLY the older guns from 15+ years ago.
Supposedly Taurus has cleaned up its act in late '90s, but there was a time before that when quality control on Taurus guns was pretty lousy.
One of the larger gun store owners in MA told me that years ago he simply stopped carrying Taurus guns because he was sending so many out-of-spec guns back to the factory. We're talking bent frames, out of alignment cylinders, etc. Of course nowadays he can't carry them even if he wanted to, since they aren't MA-compliant.0
