I have just purchased a Magnum Research Desert Eagle 44 Mag. and was wondering what is the best ammo to use. I understand soft nose ammo will plug up the ports so I have been looking at jacketed hollow point. Has anyone shot jhp's with this gun and does it feed smoothly? I can't seem to find any fmj 44 ammo.
    Thanks

any kind of jacketed 44 is fine just no all lead bullets thats what plugs the gas ports

also they reccomend 240 gr, although mine functions fine with 180grs

Go to the Magnum Research Website, frequently asked questions and it will give you a list of ammo that will work. I have tried other ammo and found the reliability wasn't there. When I have shot off the list I have had no problems.

Mine is feed a strict diet of hard cast bullets loaded to max with 2400 powder with no problems. I do mark the reloads so they are not used in another gun.
