Can steel shot be fired in internal choke tube?
Hello. I bought an over/under 12 gauge that has internal choke tubes of full and modified chokes. Can I fire steel shot in it without damaging the gun?. The gun is a modern Armsport, made in Italy. Its chambered for up to 3 and 1/2" shells. I have heard that if steel shot is fired through internal chokes it will damage the barrels and choke tubes as they are to restrictive. Need an expert opinion before I screw up! Thanks!

Take out the choke tubes and see if they say "Lead only"or choke for "steel use". Suggest you avoid full choke with steel shot.Purchase another Mod.for steel and a Improved choke for steel. Better safe than sorry and blow out the choke tubes and barrel.Good luck duck and goose hunting and hold on to you hat with those 31/2" loads in a O/U. They do Kick a bit. 0 -
Check around for the crossmatch list of choke tubes. The extended tubes get the choke portion of the tube out past the very thin part of the tube enhancing the strength of the choke. Some internal tubes are rated for steel in the more open chokes. 0
