Flobert 6mm cone breech caps

These German made CBs about !/2 the length of a 22 short seem to be made for pest shooting at very short distances and/or target shooting. Does anyone know if the bullet is propelled simply by the rimfire priming or if there is also a small amount of powder in them? Also would they be safe to shoot in an antique pistol or rifle,smoothbore or rifled which was originally made in the black powder era and deemed not safe to shoot with even a modern standard velocity 22 short?

    To the best of my knowledge the small Floberts your referring to, have only the primer no powder. You also might try the Mexican Aguila ammo. They make a similar version called the Colibri, ( don't think I spelled it correctly). Stay away from the Super Colibri though, as it has some powder for higher velocity then the Colibri.

    Thanks for the information.I can buy the the Floberts locally but I knew nothing of the Aguila brand. I found the Colibri brand on the internet which are 22 long rifle length but have no powder. And yes I will stay away from the Super Colibri as they are listed at 500fps.

    The Colibri and the Super Colibri are both made with out powder. There is a warning on the Colibri box that they are designed for handguns and that the bullet might not make it out of a rifle length barrel. The Super Colibri SE is the one made with a small powder charge. In practice the Colibris have always made it out of my rifle barrels, but I still always check.
