    A penny auction with a hidden reserve is just a guessing game and most serious buyers will skip it. Also, blackpowder revolvers are perfectly legal in New York State except in NY City so you should specify you won't ship to NY City, not simply New York.

    I have many others that I'm going to put up for auction, but I want to make sure I did it right...

    I just sold a Colt Model 1851 Navy: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=138892239

    I listed it at my minimum acceptable price of $999. I received 10 bids and sold it for $1,425.

    If I had started it at a penny with a hidden reserve, I'd either get no bids or stupid ones like $50, $79.99, etc., which is a bidder's way of telling you they hate reserve auctions!

    thx Spider...I wanted to do the same, but I can't figure out a starting point for this gun...all the closed auctions have not sold...

    I have a personal list of auction red flags, which are things in an auction that make me hesitate to bid. If I see too many, I walk away. In yours, I see:

    1) Lack of complete description; you don't even describe the bore, & you didn't remove the grips.

    2) Photos are not good enough. If you have to describe the markings rather than show them in photos, then your photos need to be redone.

    3) "AS IS" from a seller with little or no feedback; the minimum I expect is a 3 day return.

    4) Shipping method not specified. I would expect you to use USPS, but have no way of knowing.

    Get a [free] Photobucket account.
    Take the digital photos that you will be using in your auction. Place them in Photobucket (again, free account).

    Write up, compose, etc. the item description that you will be using in your auction right here on these forums. Post it for us, along with the photos that are in Photobucket.

    We'll edit it for you, with additions, deletions, photo recommendations, etc.

    C&P the "finished product" over to the auction side.

    Accomplish above for each auction you will be submitting to Gunbroker.

    Above items, if adhered to, will enhance the sale. And we'll do it at no cost! Best, Joe

    Spider is right about reserve auctions, I hate them. Just list the item for the minimum you are looking for and see what happens. That way bidders don't feel like their wasting their time.
