Winchester mod 70 30-06 safety problem ??
I just got A used Winchester mod 70 30-06 1971 year made.It is ruff on the finish.Bolt works fine. The saftey is hard to pull back to the ON position.I have to lay it across my lap and push with my left thumb and use my right index finger to pull it back.It should not be this hard to pull back.Pushing it foward to the OFF position is easy.Anybody got a clue? It is dangerous this way if the saftey is not working properly. How much to fix it?

toolsforfools,
It sounds like all you need to do is disassemble the bolt and clean the inside. You could do it yourself or take it to a gunsmith. If you do the latter it shouldn't take him more than 1/2 hour charged. Maybe 20-30 bucks? If you have to replace a spring then add $10 maybe?0 -

this is a common problem with the win. safty. any wear, any place in the trigger/safty parts and you get this consdition. a good gunsmith will know how to fix it, not recommended for diy. 0
