value of a Cooper Steyr Scout rifle in .376

Ok guys what is the real value of a Steyr-Cooper Scout rifle? I've been mulling about buying one for years and always seem to put it on the back burner. From some of the comments over the years I've wondered if they just become safe queens. What would be a reasonable purchase price. (Yeah I know...whatever you are willing to pay!!!). And I don't have a blue book in which to look. Thanks, Beach

    Why not go for a 458 Steyr? Than you could realy "reach out and touch someone" [:D]. While you'd need to "make" your brass, the parent case is fairly easy to find.

    Haven't fired one, in fact I've only seen one "real" round for it, as it's a experamental Euro sniper round/rifle. Considering the weight of the rifle for it, I suspect you'd only want to fire it from the prone, so I doubt it would push you more than 1/2 way to Canada in that position. [:D]

    Bob......I think that .458 would kick me all the way into Canada. But I'll bet you have fired one.[:0]. I think my limit is the .376 as I get older. Beach

    As for ease and age I opted for the 375H&H on a M70 Winchester so that I wouldn't have issues with ammo in the future. The future for many of these almost custom cartridges is often in doubt when looking ten years or so out. The H&H cartridge has been the standard and is likely to remain so for the next decade or six.....
