Scope choices

Well, since I'm still waiting on parts for my 6.5 grendel I've had too much time looking at scopes. I thought I was stuck on the nightforce, especially with the 1st focal plane now, I just saw the Nikon Monarch X with 30mm tube(16x). Anyone seen that at all. Just getting ideas. Will be using out to 600 yards. That's the longest range I have access to.

I also like the Series 3 from Sightron with 30mm tube, I have a series 2 on a 204 and like it a lot.

    Stick with the Nightforce, it will out perform the other two.

    I agree with He Dog. If you want to go with something a little lesser than the NightForce, go with the Burris Tactical. They cost a little more than the other two, but not near as much as the NF. They are much better than the Sightron or Nikon...which are still good scopes, for the hunter.

    +1 on everything said... If the cost of the NF is to high to be justified for you needs, i'd humbly advise you to look into IOR Valdadas offerings, they have several good first focal plan models at reasonable prices for the level of quality they put into their products..

    If that wont do, then Burris or Leupold is a safe bet.

    To 600 yards you would be happy with any of the scopes mentioned.
    I have a Burris Black Diamond on my Barrett 82 and a NightForce on the Windrunner.
    They are both very good.

    Agreed. All that the others need is to up their quality. And that costs money.

    Whammo!! Suddenly Nikon/Burris, etc. is as expensive as Nightforce!

    Can't go that route. Leaves the "po demographic" without a scope. Better to sell lesser quality (but good quality nonetheless), than lose the market.

    To Skyfish: I believe the IOR is right up there with Nightforce. Cheaper manufacturing overhead makes it a little more affordable, and is an all around better scope than the others. Besides, Zeiss Jena lenses take a backseat to no one. Best, Joe

    My IOR tactical is heavy as well, but a great scope with schott glasswerks glass and a tight adjustment.[8D]

    I'd opt for Burris signature over leupold VX III, I replaced my leupys with burris and never looked back. My MK IV's were replaced by nightforce.
