luger help please
Could I get some help on 2 lugers that my late husband has. I have a potential buyer and want to make sure I have the prices correct.
The first one has the clip and is in a leather holster. Serial number 3349. All parts are marked 49 except one that is marked 41. One part is marked byf 49. It also has a mark P.08 and there are 3 various eagle symbols. Clip has 673 on the bottom. My husband had some notes on the gun that said it was 1941 model 1934 Mauser (no print) - not sure what this information means or if it goes with the gun. Any idea of value or history?
The second luger has no clip or holster. Serial number 6743 with various parts marked 43. Also has a crown mark with an N under it. On the top on the gun there is some white scroll design - not sure if this is some kind of lettering. My husband had a note "with print 1920 commercial". Any idea on values and history?

Hello The Holster would be worth a fair amount but has had the narrow part cut to allow for a pistol with longer barrel to be used at one time[:(][V], and the pistol sounds like it could be a 1941 built model 1934 coded byf because that is how the Germans marked WW II pistols. the 1920 looks to be in Fair condition and the fancy Scroll is most likely the maker DWM LOGO . I would say a good place to start would be $600.00 each if you put up for auction . to get the best price we need bigger better more detailed pictures showing all markings and inside of bore if possible this will involve taking the top half off the frame 10 second job if you know how but rather hard to put into words.

Your 1941 weapon was made by Mauserwerk and it is the most collectable of the two. The "byf" is the code for Mauser. It should sell for between $600-$1200 with the mismatched magazine and one possible mismatched part (41).
Your 1920 Commercial was probably made by DeutscheWaffenundMunitions (DWM) after WWI of surplus and new parts. It could be either 9mm or 7.65 Luger caliber. A commercial of 9mm is more valuable due to being easier to find ammunition for. Figure about a 20% difference plus or minus.
Without a magazine (wood base magazines are correct for this weapon) and unknown if matching, I would place the value at $450-$900.

Perry Shooter ...That end of holster was not cut out for a longer barrel! German troops in North Africa would cut the ends out of the holster so sand would not collect in it. I heard this from an old Vet. that was there.0 -
I'm no authority on lugers, but I've been pricing them on GB for the last month or so.
P3 estimates are in line with what i'm seeing on the auctions, but i think the upper range on the first one will be a little higher, say $1400 because of the holster.
i think the 1920 won't hit the $900 mark without a mag and cracked grip. $500-800 is more what iv'e been seeing. (about the same as those chrome plated lugers that pop up every now and then)
