1873 Winchester pts. question
My father in law gave me a 73 Win. "rifle" in 44-40. It is a little worse for wear but I have seen a lot worse. Everything is there but and it functions ok. The bore is a little dark but the rifling is good.I need a couple screws, a magazine fallower and spring, and a set of stocks. I realize that I should use origional parts but was wondering if Uberti parts will interchange. Thanks

Getting original metal parts isn't all that difficult for an 1873. There's always somebody tearing down a gun or two (often in Canada) and selling the parts. Keep checking the online auctions and they will show up. Or, Google for them and several suppliers will pop up. Keep in mind that a lot of suppliers parts are reproductions and may or may not be correct for your gun (or any gun for that matter). Obtaining a good wood-to-metal fit will be the biggest challenge. Winchester hand fitted each gun and even swapping original stocks on two guns can result in some hoaky looking wood. I know Dixie Gun Works has new wood for 1873s if you want to go that route. 0 -
Very few if any Uberti parts will work, I tried some repro parts from Chas Jones? and they were junk, some of the screws were for a rifle and not a carbine.
Bert H. hooked me up with a guy at the Reno show for some screws and small parts for my SRC Carbine, maybe he can tell you who it was.
