plack powder hand gun

I will start by saying I know nothing about guns. I am just trying to find out if this gun has any value. It was given to me from my late father-in-law's estate. You can view pictures at the following link. http://picasaweb.google.com/hc32box103a/BlackPowderPistoMADEINSPAIN#
The only thing I can find imprinted is MADE IN SPAIN on the barrel. Any help is appreciated.

    I can't be sure from the pictures but I think this is a modern made reproduction of an older style pistol my take is $100.00 more or less.

    It doesn't give the appearance of being 160+ years old. Rather a modern replica. If it doesn't have any Spanish Proof Marks besides the "Made in Spain" marking, in is in fact a non-functional decorator only. It's only value would be as conversation piece, or a decorator for the man cave.

    Modern made flintlock type, not a replica of any kind in particular and lacking in detail to flint pistols in general. The hundred dollar number mentioned is ballpark as a wall hanger.

    Nothing commanding about this Pistol...Worth maybe $50.00 to $75.00....and thats Top price...Has a Rear Sight, but No Front Sight...Is the Frizzen Hardened? Will it Spark?..Hang it on the Wall and make up some Good Stories....

    Had one just like it. Mostly zinc. I let the kids play with it until it broke.

    Value is zero.

    Frizzen probably won't spark. Not really made to shoot. I gave $5 for one, hardened the frizzen and shoot it for noise only on July 4th, no ball just powder and paper.

    Your pistol is not a zinc replica, it's a modern made CVA "Colonial Pistol", I'm betting a .45 caliber. Yours looks to be one that started out as a kit based on the unfinished barrel. They were available in flint or percussion and are a copy of no particular original.

    A lot of those were sold back in the '70s and '80s. The CVA flintlock locks were of average quality; not outstanding but not junk either. Value? Based on your pictures and assuming that the bore isn't a sewer pipe, these usually sell here on GunBroker for around $100.00 - maybe just a bit less.

    But this one sounds like a family keepsake. I would value it at $100.00 for insurance purposes.
