M1 carbine barrel band I.D.

Can anyone tell me a quick way to tell the difference between an M1 Carbine original type 2 barrel band versus a cut down type 3 band?

  The type II will usually have only 1 spot weld, as opposed to 2 on the type III.
  
  The type II will usually be unmarked, & most type III have a manufacturers mark. But, some type II & III marks are the same.
