sighting in 22 cal.
Hey guy's what's the best way to sight in a 22 rifle. Should it be sighted in at 1/2 inch high at 25 yard's or dead on at 50 yard's. that's with a scope.What would be the difference in point of impact at those ranges.

Zero at the range your going to be at the most, than shoot it at the other ranges to determine where the bullet will impact. 0 -

I usually sight mine in to be zeroed at 50 yards, but its really a question of what you are going to do with the rifle.
If you're shooting static bullseyes (or whatever) at a fixed distance (whatever it is), zero for that distance.
The main thing isn't where your zero is, but that you KNOW what it is, what the target distance is, and your drop distance at the range you are shooting at.
As to difference in point of impact, that's going to depend on your muzzle velocity, itself dependent on barrel length and the exact load.
There are a gazillion ballistics charts you can look at to determine drop (eg click on any of the Federal ammo offerings here: http://www.federalpremium.com/products/rimfire.aspx )
But as a general rule of thumb, if you're zeroed at 50 yards, you'll be about 1/4" high at 25 yards.0
