First of all, THE reference book on American antique arms is Norm Flayderman's book, now in it's 9th edition. Most other "collector's guides" are alsorans. Ethan Allen made a variety of small handguns under that name, Allen & Wheelock, and others. You don't indicate which model you have: single shot, center hammer revolver, side hammer revolver, etc. Being a 32RF it might be the side hammer revolver in which case barrel lengths were from just under 3-inches to 5 inches. See if your library has a copy of Flayderman's and thumb through the Ethan Allen section.

I will check the local libraies which are quite small. I may buy the Flayderman's book . It is a single shot, center hammer with auto ejection and 5" barrel. It is not marked Allen & Thurber nor Allen & Wheelock but as stated "Ethan Allen Co" which superceded the others. I was only wondering if the pistol was made in varios barrel lengths or if the 4" barrel stated in in my book was an error? I will find the answer somewhere. thanks
