Bianchi Pirahna Holster

Any one Tried the new Bianchi Pirahna or Venom holsters yet? I haven't seen one yet, but I'm considering ordering one for my Glock 32. Mostly I use a Safariland 518 paddle holster, but I've been looking for something that holds just a little closer. Will a good pancake holster and quality gun belt make much difference in concealability over the paddle style?

    My opinion is that a very good stiff gun belt is more important than the holster. A thin belt will let any holster sag and print more.
    On a pancake style, they do pull the gun closer than a paddle type.

    I can't comment on the specific holsters mentioned, never having tried one.

    But I agree with DCS shooters. In general paddle type holsters are meant as a compromise for easy removal and replacement, for example for someone who might need to put on and take off their gun multiple times per day or at short notice.

    A good pancake type holster on a proper belt should both be a little snugger than a paddle, and offer a little better retention.

    Whether or not its much more "concealable" is going to depend on the exact model, how you are concealing it, and your anatomy, but I doubt it would be LESS concealable.

    That's always a problem, but I don't see how you really have any other choice. Short of borrowing a rig from a friend to test out, you sort of have to make your best guess at what you think would work, then go for it.

    I've found that even seeing the stuff in person often isn't enough.

    You never REALLY know how a concealment type rig is going to work out until you actually use it for a while. You have to actually put it on and carry it during your normal day-to-day routine, to see if its comfortable for you, actually conceals the gun, and doesn't pose any unforeseen issues (like squeaking, chafing, being hard to draw, etc).

    Consequently, most shooters who try to carry concealed end up with a sack full of holsters they've tried out until they've found one (or more) that work for them.
