7mm IMP, Model 54 Winchester 30/06

I'm trying to find out the twist ratio on my 7mm IMP. The barrell is 19" semi Bull barrell, believed to be an Ackley. On a model 95 Mexican Mauser. I am also trying to get a value on my Winchester Model 54 30/06, bolt action, this is an OLD one the barrel is marked "Nickle Steel"

    To find the twist ratio of your Mexican Mauser,(a very fine action indeed) you need to get a cleaning rod that spins freely equipped with a 7mm jag on the tip. I recommend Dewey. Take the jag with a patch on it and insert it into the bore from the receiver end. Measure from a point on the rifle to the handle of the cleaning rod, say from receiver to handle of cleaning rod. Mark the top center of the cleaning rod. Now, push the cleaning rod through the barrel noting that the rod itself (not the handle) is spinning as you push. (do not pull) When the top center mark comes back to top center then measure the distance from where you measured earlier. Subtract that from the original total and that's your rate of twist.

    Sorry, forgot the second part of the post. The Winchester 54 is a very good rifle made from 1925-1936. Almost a duplicate of a Mauser 98. Depending on condition and rarity of caliber, they can range in price from $300-$1000. You would have to say what the cartridge it is chambered for to get a more realistic value. Pics of course would be most helpful in helping you.
