Weatherby Aftermarket Stock
I own a late-90's Weatherby Mark V in .270 weatherby caliber. I would like to put a good quality composite stock with a full-length bedding block or solid pillar. I am not looking to pay the outrageous prices of the custom shops and would prefer a drop-in that I do not have to modify. I have read horror stories about many of the standard drop-ins carried at Cabelas, Midway USA and the like. Any help out there?

Good quality composite stocks are available from Bell and Carlson and H-S Precision for blocks, Manners and McMillan for pillars. The stock factories supply a stock that will take a factory barreled action without modification. As I stated in another post a few minutes ago regarding the same subject, there is no such thing as a true drop-in that mates the two products perfectly because of factory and manufacturing variations. Under normal circumstance, we usually have to skim bed the action to the stock to eliminate the stress from the imperfections of manufacturing. As I also stated, you may be happy with the mating and not have to do the bedding. But when done correctly, the bedding will improve the consistency and repeatability of your rifle.
As to the 'outrageous prices' charged by custom shops, I suggest that you buy a quality walnut blank and create a perfectly fitted stock by hand and see how long it takes you. When you add up the hours invested in a custom made stock, the cost is not outrageous. The final price is simply higher than you want to afford. It's a matter of priorities. Some folks want to buy custom stocks and others want to buy new cars, computers, tools or other toys. You pay for what you really want to afford.
