Sharps pepperbox .22lr

The Sharps cwas never made in .22 long rifle. lease don't shoot them in it!
Pictures would help a lot.
Edit: Pictures of the whole gun, not just parts of it.
Edit: Sorry, I missed that picture! The gun does not appear to be a modern copy, but I'm not a Sharps expert.0 -
Various replicas have been made over the years of the Sharps, 4 barreled pistol. Both in the U.S. and abroad. I believe most of them were chambered for .22 rimfire cartridges. Sometimes modern replicas would be marked in similar fashion to the originals.
If you could post quality photos of the pistol including all markings, we could help you determine if it's a original Sharps.0 -
How are the grips attached? From what i remember, the originals were attached with a bracket on the bottom of the grips instead of a screw between the two panels. 0 -
The photos don't give the Sharps the appearance of a pistol that is at least 140 years old, "TO ME", i.e. no patina on the brass or wear/oil stains on the grips etc.
Either it's been extensively cleaned, or much more likely a modern replica.0 -
The photos look like a Model 1C of which about 26000 were manufactured. Originality would be best judged by a collector familiar with that type of arm. If it is original, it would appear that the brass has been heavily cleaned and the grips may have been replaced. What appear to be filing marks on the brass in places suggests either a bubba cleanup of an original or a somewhat crudely made replica. It it truly is chambered for 22LR, then it is likely a replica unless bubba also rechambered an original. 0 -

In my opinion, those stampings do not reflect the font type or quality of a genuine Sharps. The bottom two pics are one of my original Sharps derringers for comparison. Also notice the difference in the quality of the frames. 0
