Rem. 600
How much is a remington 600 in a 6.5 mag. cal. worth? It is about 97% condition. All original. The auction is at 952.00 right now. How high should I bid?

I just received a Rem. 600, in 6mm. rem. I new the rear sight was missing when I bought it. What I didn't, and still don't know is---How are the threaded studs that hold the rib to the Bbl. (not the screws), attached to the Bbl. Are they threaded, soldered, or what? Someone in the past totally destroyed one of these studs, I assume in trying to get the rib off. It is no longer usable, and will not accept the screw, even for cosmetic purposes. Before I go any farther, I'd like some input. THX HAWKSHAW 0 -
Hawkshaw,
I've had several of these barrels with the same problem. They are or were soldered in. They were made from cheap pot metal and are fragile when the rib is removed from the barrel.
You can make a replacement but it takes some lathe work and some precision locating to mill a hole for the new pillar.
