Luger magazine
On the side of the clip for a WWII Luger is the number "122" (not the serial number). Does this make a big difference to collectors? Is this a replacement clip? Is it better to have this "122" instead of a non-matching mag? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Bob

You have a TYPE 3 army made 1939-1941 the 122 IS NOT a serial Number The serial number should be on the bottom and yours bottom should be Aluminum with a steel rivet cross-ways to the body and the metal bottom cut at a 90 degree angle to the sides. .

Edit II [:I][:I][:I][:I] Thanks Rufe I must of had a senior moment The information I had came from Jan Still book and it stated 1939-1941 The first time I read your post I did not see the word ":LATE:" and thought you stated 1930-1941 My MISTAKE upon further reading it also stated some did not have serial numbers so this one COULD be original to this pistol. It's a MAGAZINE made in the late 30's time frame. My reference notes that the manufacturer was Hugo Schmeisser. If it's factory original, very good condition or better, it might have some value to a collector. 0 -

Walter's, "The Luger Book", 122 was the numerical code used by Schmeisser. The numerical codes were used up to about 1940, when the krauts switched over to more commonly known 3 letter codes, such as fxo.0
