1874 Deluxe Sharps

Looking to get a ballpark value for insurance, NOT to sell. It is an Unmolested very fine 74 Deluxe, checkered, pistol grip, rifle, factory 28" round heavy barrel, 45-2 7/8 caliber. Made in Bridgeport in late 1876 or early 1877. Wood is deluxe pistol grip checkered heavy style. Mid range vernier with windage globe up front, and a Lawrence barrel sight. Double set triggers. Weighs 10.5 pounds. No record with Dr. Labowski, but it's definetely 100% correct and a high condition deluxe pistol griped gun. Blue is about 90% with a little plumbing. Receiver case color is muted with about 10% remaining. Screws never turned, wood to metal fit is mint. Wood varnish is 95%. Bore is excellent. This gun is beautiful and way way above average. Thoughts on value... I see junkers around 5K and average NON deluxe models around 8-10K, even 74 Sharps priced around 15-20K that are still lesser guns. So where does mine fit in? It's hard to find a deluxe pistol gripped model to compare to.

    To give a proper evaluation...and help us drool, we would love to see some pictures...please? There is a stick thread at the top of the experts forum that gives direction on how to post photo's. You will need to use a photo hosting website such as photobucket for example.

    Both of these Sharps are much better in person than the pictures appear. Thoughts? Some of the prices on even the junkers or middle of the road Sharps are very high; and they are usually not deluxe checkered models!

    spyder, I'm sure you mean well, but I don't know that it's appropriate for other people to lift and post my pictures. Besides, Bert has examined both of those rare carbines. I'm interested in getting a better value on the two sharps anyway, not move the discussion to my other carbines. thanks.

    Sorry but I didn't "lift" anything. Your album is public with no login required so I naturally thought you intended to share your pictures with others. In any event, I removed the post.

    Nice Rifle[^]. Your best bet would be to look at some of Amoskeag's past auctions. Less than two years ago, he auctioned off a large collection of very high-end single shot rifles, including a fair number of superb Sharps rifles.
