remington viper problems
i know this gun is a piece of junk, and i should just buy a 10/22. but a guy brought this to me to fix, and it is driving me nuts. it will shoot, it will eject, it will load a new shell from magazine. it will not reset the firing pin to fire the second round. i have tried cci standard, cci mini mag, cci blazer, american eagle high velocity, remington gold high velocity, yellow jackets, stingers, nothing seems to work. any ideas appreciated. thanks

It seems it has to be a problem with the sear, striker/firing pin interface. Take it apart, check the spring that tensions the sear, and the face of the sear that contacts the striker/firing pin.
I would first replace the sear spring, then the sear itself if it shows a inordinate amount of wear, and the replacement of the sear spring hasn't alleviated the problem.0 -
It sounds to me like BUBBA has already had this rifle apart...most likely trying to get a better trigger pull. In doing so has forgotten to put the disconnector back in, or taken to much off the sear/hammer/striker. It will stay in tact when manually operating the charging handle, but when you let it fire on its own, it will not hold the Hammer/striker back. Could be that it just needs a real good cleaning also.
