I would check with Kimber if this is what I think it is with an external extractor. See If there is a recall on this model. There were some barrel Kaboom problems with These vintage Kimbers in 45ACP . Your Mileage May Vary.

My Kimber custom target II in 45acp. had a plastic main spring housing. I was disapointed in that, changed it to a steel one. Payed about $700 and get plastic parts. Other than that the gun meets my needs.
