winchester 1200...jams

anyone had the problem of having to use high brass shells in order to prevent jams....20 guage..mk 1200.....is there anything to change like you can on the old brownings?.....

    there is nothing you can change (like the Brownings), just make sure the gas system is clean and LIGHTLY lubicated.

    The 1200,,I think[?] is a pump gun. ? What do you mean by jamming?

    Bingo.

    Is the problem a failure to feed, a failure to extract, or eject?

    First determine that the problem isn't ammo related. Try a couple of different brands. If you're using cheap promo ammo, try something of better quality.

    You may find this hard to believe, but the Win 1200 and it's variants
    were designed to somewhat open the action from the recoil of the fired shell. I had to check on this many years ago when I first got and shot
    a Ted Williams model 200 in 20 gauge. [the same as a win1200]. Indeed with heavier loads the action does start to open itself. You must get used to the 'feel' of this for it pump a new shell in. Just a little
    different "ca-junk" sort of sound and motion needed. Its not the gun or the ammo.....Its YOU not used to it helping to start the reloading

    I have 2 1300 defenders that are the same way. (nearly the same action as the 1200). Once you get used to it, it's probably the fastest pump action made. Winchester called the design "speed pump" which lives up to it's name.
