    At 500 yards, quarter moa adjustment would translate to 1.25" per click. You would need 42 clicks and you would be about a half inch high. Assuming you have a rifle with a boreline zero.

    Just doing rough math, 52" @ 500yd is 10.4 MOA. 10.4 * 4 (clicks/minute) = 41.6 clicks (42 close enough).
    Note that you will need to test fire at 500yd to verify this, before you go shooting at something with hair on it. Ballistics tables and reality don't always match up as close as we would like.

    For rough purposes, 1 MOA is the same as 1"/100yd (1" @ 100, 5" @ 500, 10" @ 1000). In reality 1 MOA is slightly over 1", but unless your a top ranked BR shooter, most people don't worry about the 3/8" at 1000yd difference

    Tailgunner has it right. I'd add that most shooters would be thrilled to shoot so well that they even COULD notice an extra 3/8" difference at 1000 yards!

    Also note that out at 500 yards lots of other variables can come into play to affect precise trajectory: Wind, temperature, humidity, etc.

    So even if you were exactly zeroed at 500 yards with the best quality match ammo available, on a different day or a different range, your zero may not be precisely the same again.

    As noted the rough figure of 1" per 100 yds. for MOA is actually accurate enough when it comes to distance shooting. In the 100 yd. Benchrest game the .047" can be the difference between first and fifth on many days. So, it matters there. But, the .472" or roughly 15/32nds, isn't going to matter at 1k. FWIW, even the best of the best have not yet been able to put that kind of accuracy in the book. So far, the very best is about three times that size @ 1000 yds.

    On some forums, you'll hear of people talking Shooters MOA or IPHY. Both mean 1" per 100 yds is MOA. An MOA is 10.472" @ 1000 or 5.236" @ 500. Even long distance shooters are happy to keep their shots within those lines some days. Conditions like wind, mirage, temp, sunlight/cloudy all affect how you or your rifle shoots that day. Use the rough zero to get you on steel or paper and then adjust as necessary. If possible, it's always good to have a good spotter and get as much immediate feedback as you can.

    The way I figure clicks is easy. Take ballet drop, 52" times it by 4 then divided it by 5. Should equal to 41.6 clicks.

    Bullet drop X clicks per MOA / yds. Yd is 1 per 100 yds like your 500 yds would be 5.00

    Like 36"X 8 clicks per MOA/ 3.25(325 yds) - 88.6 click
