Peerless was a tradename used by Crescent Fire Arms Company (for H & D Folsom Company on shotguns in the early part of the 20th century although I am not familiar with Philadelphia, PA marking with it. Peerless was also a tradename used by J Stevens Arms Company on Rifles.

    Mike.
looked in two reference books, one by Joseph T. Vorisek and the other by me and found two entrys for guns with the Peerless name. I found no reference to a marking of Phildelphia,PA or 5000. That's not to say there was no such name, just that I couldn't find one. The two names I found are just plain Peerless which was made by Crescent Fire Arms Co., Crescent-Davis Arms Corp. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. and Savage Arms Co. This name was sold by H & D Folsome of New York City and Spegal May Steiw of Chicago.Tne other name is Peerless Gun and this one was made by either Crescent-Davis Arms Corp or Savage Arms and was sold by Montgomery Ward of Chicago.

    Thanks Ned.

Interesting. My Dad, now passed, worked for Wards for over 40 years..

I don't think there was a connection tho.

    Thank you very much...

Ned, I have been looking for your book knowing only "Ned Fall" as an author name. Can you give me a title to try and locate it? Thanks![^]
