    I am in the market for an original WWII carbine. Before I buy, I need to get an education. Can anyone recommend a book or two? Is there good info available on the net somewhere? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

    My wants/needs/desires, are all different from yours. I know I would hold out for a "true G.I." model, just for the sake of knowing what I had. Gun buying from those you consider friends could also turn out badly........

    Well go look at it. Shoot it. If it is what you want, and it works, at a price you are willing to pay then how can you lose?

    I bought a Universal about a decade ago for I think just under $300. I did not know about the bad reputation that Universal had at the time. Well mine runs great and while it is not a USGI I would not sell it cheep unless I had to for some bad reason.
