1911 magazine release
I have taken the mag release out of many 1911's and never had a problem reinstalling it. This one came out fine and was very clean. when I try to put it back in the screw will not turn enough to release inside the frame. it is unobstructed when outside the gun and turns freely to the point where it would work fine if it would do so inside the frame.
I have put a good amount of pressure on it almost to the point of forcing it but I don't want to strip the screw head or flare the tab or frame.
I must be missing something because this part came out of a gun that worked perfectly...any ideas?

Didn't get the wrong spring matched up with the release? Maybe there's something inside the frame recess? Flush and blow out with compressed air, oil and try again???
Good luck.0 -
You have to push the mag release in a little to line up the notch for the screw to turn out. 0 -
DSC has the key to reinstalling when the unit is out of the pistol it keeps the spring captive but not lined up with the receiving slot in the frame . the release button will almost be flush with the frame when the screw TAB is lined up with the slot in the frame.
