Winchester 1897 riot gun

There is a 1897 winchester riot gun, with letter, from 1900. It was shipped, then sent back to the factory one week later because it was sent with a 24" barrel, and was refitted there to riot configuration. The price is 895.00 is that about inline? The stock is pretty beat up, but the metal looks pretty good

    I'd have to agree with barz., not much value over any other '97 in the same cond.

    $895.00 is way too much for an 1897 riot gun with a beat up stock. It should look near-new at that price.

    Hello fellows,

    I disagree that the gun is overpriced. Almost any authentic Model 1897 Riot Gun (and this one appears to be) is worth the mentioned price. Based on what I see them sell for, a standard (non ordnance marked) Riot Gun in the condition stated is worth the asking price. If you find one in 90%+ condition, they sell for about $2K.

    I wanted to say thank you, and let you know I followed your advice and purchased this gun. I will try to take some quality pictures tomorrow, and scan the letter as well.

    I got him down to $700.00, so I think I did even better than projected.

    It is nasty with rain outside today, and my house is torn up from our rennovation. Sorry Bert, these are the best I could do inside with the pictures.

    In my opinion, you got that gun at a very good price. I personally would have paid the $895 and been quite happy.

    Yes, and that letter is very typical of most Winchester factory letters.
