Question about a .22 rifle
I have a .22 rifle that I need a magazine and a couple of screws for, but I can't quite find out who made it. It's semi-auto with venting ribs along the left side and the words RANGER 101-14 on the barrel.
On the left side of the barrel are the words "CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE SMOKELESS GREASED ONLY". On the right side near the rear site it says "PATENT 2094577 OTHERS PENDING". I have the scope that came with the rifle but it's missing the two screws for mounting it.
Seems like it might be a Savage 87A or a Stevens 6A but I think these two correspond to a Ranger 101-16 and I've never seen a reference to a scope. Anybody have any thoughts 'bout this?

Take a look at this auction,

see if it's the same rifle.
The screws most likely are a standard size and are obtainable. The rifle was only made for a relatively short period of time prior to and after W W II and the mag might be hard to come by. Triple K makes some replacement mags for older .22 rifles, you might try them.0 -
I THINK you have a Savage, possibly a Model 6 or Model 87, made for Sears & Roebuck. The patent number was assigned to Savage Firearms in 1937. 0 -
I took a look at the auction site rufe-snow gave me. The rifle is similar but not the same. The sightes are different and my rifle doesn't have any checkering on the handle.
I'll take a look at the Triple K site for magazines. I have one magazine, it's a banana type, with a shot spring.0 -
Marlin made a semi auto 22 called the ranger. Here it is.

These Seem closer to your discription. the first one is a 101-16, it has a tubular magazine, and 101-14, your model, From what i've been able to find they made several models of both rifles and shotguns... But not for atleast 3 decades, probably longer. I also found that several models where sold By Sears and Robuck.
101-16

Here is a parts Kit, but it does not specify the specific model

Given the "venting ribs" on the left side of the receiver. And the barrel marking "CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE SMOKELESS GREASED ONLY". That are visible on the rifle that was on the GB auction. It really seems to me that your rifle is Savage Model 7, that was made for Sears. 0
