BSS Serial Numbers

I have a 20G BSS SN: 2763BXX and would like to know the date of manufacture. Different sources say these were made from 1978-1987 or 1971-1988. I know mine is an early one as it has a non-selective silver trigger. The Browning web site says it should have 2 letters in the middle of the number. This one has only a B followed by two more numbers. Appreciate any help.

  The Browning web site as far as serial numbers are concerned is all messed up. I can verify this from personal experience.
  
  The serial number of your shotgun is 2763, "B" is most likely the model identifier. The two numbers you have noted as "XX", are the DOM.
