I would like an estimate of the value of a couple of my guns for insurance purposes.

    I would like some help on where to go to get values of rifles and guns. My dad had many but passed away recently and we would like to get values on them, however I dont know the first place to look!
    I wont list all info on them, but just the basics:

    Browning 22 long made in Belgium w/Bushnel 4x custom 22 scope
    Winchester new haven 22 long/short Mod.6 Patent Jan.29, 1901
    Winchester 22 long/short Mod. 6 Stainless Steel
    Remington 7mm mag.model 700 w/ Leopold scope
    Savage 20 gauge 3' model 330
    Smith&Wesson 357 magnum
    Colt 22 longs woodsman 84633-Z, Spain mod. 1-80 9mm para interarms
    1916 German Lugar
    Browning 380 cal.9 short/380 made in Italy
    Rossi revolver interarms 38 special made in Brazil

    If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you!

    You're on it. Watch the prices here. They reflect the current real world values. With far bigger clientel than any gunshow.
    Just remember. Count only auctions where the items that actually SOLD. Just because a vendor sets a reserve at X$. Doesn't mean it's actually worth that much. Remember also that buyer pays shipping and probably FFL receiver fee's. So you can add approx. $50. to most winning bids as what the buyer paid. IE: Value of item.
    Many of the guns that don't sell are priced at value. But the added shipping etc puts cost OVER value. And that's why they don't sell.
    Not too complicated once you understand how it goes. But it takes alot of study to know & remember it for use at gunshows. Unless you are looking at certain models.

    I agree with you but sometimes the guns that are there are not here or aren't getting bid on, so I need a backup. But greatly appreciate it.

    The Blue Book is the mobile reference you might need. Despite the criticism some people apply to it, you can come to know it well enough to apply percentages to different manufacturers' products based upon your knowledge of what they trade for at places like GB auctions, other auctions, at gun shows, etc.

    Go with the B B's on line subscription, ( PAY ), service. Unless you have one of the new phones with net capability, it's going to be a hassle though. I've seen plenty of guys toting copies of the printed BB at shows though. I use to haul either Flyderman or the BB around in a West German medics shoulder pack.

    In the real world the blue book of used car values and the blue book of gun values are to low on many guns in the book. When was the last time you had seen a S&W mod 60 in 90% shape go for 250.00? as the B.B O G V rates it. Gun auction prices on those pieces start at 350.00+. The best guide is the actual sales prices the guns are selling for on the auction sites unless you want to low ball a seller or widow but then again you have to explain you have to make some money also but be reasonable.

    What he is saying is to look at the COMPLETED AUCTIONS section here on Gun Broker.. It gives you a very good idea of real world pricing..Ive been in the business for 20 years.

    That's what I thought I clearly said. But I understand his statement. One might run across a gun at a gunshow, and not find it on GB.
    Evidently he intends to use an internet capable phone to check values online, while AT the gunshow. And is looking for some kind of free, online Bluebook.
    He's on the right track. Knowledge of the gun in hand is extremely important at gunshows to keep from geting ripped off.
    Don't think such a service exists. There's no shame in hauling around a book. Just the hassle.

    You can BUY the BlueBook on a CD. Then install it on a smartphone. It takes 114 Megs, color grading guide and all the Mfg Items.

    There are times that rare or oddball items just can not be fully researched as quickly any other way. Auctions also don't have the same background info as the book.

    I also try and search closed auctions sorted by MOST BIDs to see what people will compete to buy.
