    I would like some info on a Colt Official Police .38 S#9xxx

    Then it is, as somebody said, an Officer's Model Target that has had its 6" barrel with adjustable front sight replaced with one from an Official Police with that marking and fixed front sight.
    Resale value will be low because it is not original.

    Numbered to match, huh? That is getting strange.
    There is no way of knowing the identity or value of something as non standard as this gun appears to be. If you could find a friend with a camera and get up some pictures it would be a big help.

    There is number on the bottom of the barrel that matches a number on the front of thecylinder face.

    Without quality photos, your just wasting your time with your phantasies . If the barrel is marked Official Police it's a parts gun, nothing more or less. Unless you get hold of some FNG who just dropped off the turnip wagon, your not about to get big bucks for it.

    Let's get to the bottom of this once and for all. Does the number on the barrel match the number on the firearms' frame? (The serial number). If so, it's authentic to the gun. If not, it's a replacement. Awaiting your reply. Best, Joe
