Enfield No. 4, Mk 1
I have 1 and need some help. All of the numbers match, even the magazine...NB 25496. What I can't figure out is some of the other inscriptions. It is FLFTR. I've done a little research and it indicates to me that FLFTR is "Factory Through Repair" at Fazakerley. The rifle is undated or if it is, I can't find a date. I have read that "factory through repair" may mean that the initial soldier who had the gun didn't make it. Any info would help.

Well, it means Factory THOROUGH Repair- what we in the states would call a depot level rebuild. Worn rifle that needed a rebuild- headspace, bore, etc. AFAIK, not connected with whether the soldier it was issued to made it- it was a matter of the rifle "not making" it. 0 -
A "Factory Through Repair" simply means that the rifle had a routine inspection while in inventory and the rifle was refurbished. 0
