I have an old 12 ga. double, external hammers, but can not find any info about the gun ie value and ect. Anybody have an idea???

    Unless it's in excellent cosmetic condition, so it would have value as a display piece or decorator, not likely to have any great value.

    Their is little collector demand/value in the U.S. for the old Belgian made Damascus barreled hammer guns. Because of the barrel construction these older guns are not safe to fire with modern high pressure ammo.

    You were probably plenty smart to begin with, but perhaps now you are a little better informed. My wall hanger is not Belgian, but US made, but also damascus barreled and also external hammers (early Crescent made). It is interesting to speculate about the game put on tables in the eary days of this century and even into the hard depression years by these guns.

    Give the old girl a good oiling and an honored place on the wall, I expect she has well earned it.[^]

    There were almost as many Janssen's as there are Carter's little liver pills. Know what they were? My reference book lists Janssen & Sons, Jansen & Sons, A.Janssen, Janssen,Fils & Co and J. Janssen. All these were shotgun makers in Belgium between 1854 and 1965.

    hey, I still shoot mine, Janssen Sons & Co., at some cowboy matches with blackpowder hand loads. it gets a lot of ooohs and ahhhs and generally "nice shotgun" comments from the other shooters[;)]. it all depends on the gun and what you put through it. of course your milage may vary. then again most folks think i'm nuts, anyway[:p].

    I $100.00 a reasonable price for this ole gal??? The wood is in relative good shape and a good oiling is in high demand.

    Probably more like $50 to $75 as a wall hanger.
