1950 colt commander 4 digit SN with LW
I found out what year it was and mistakenly put that it had combat written on the slide instead it was commander model and the letters COLT in the middle taking up both lines and 9m/m lugar with the horse emblem on the back side of the lettering towards the hammer. I suspect that this is a 1950 model. I have pics but my wife hasnt felt well enough to clean them up for posting, i was hoping that someone would clarify this for me. or at least point me in the right direction of the approx. value it is 90% condition and still is accurate.

Sounds like a first year production of the Colt Commander...I am guessing at least $1000...and more if you have the box. 0 -
1951 serial number started at 6000LW you have a standard commander production started 1949 with 65 guns built 1950 started with serial 66LW IMHO value at 90 % would be $750.00 + or - again my opinion only is commanders don't have as much collector interest as full size 1911 colts. . YMMV 0
