S&W model 48 interchangable cylinder?
Hello would a K-22 model 17 .22 LR Cylinder interchange with a smith & wesson model 48-4 22 magnum?

There are a variety of cylinder lengths. You need to measure it with a caliper and find one of the same length. The correct one will fit. 0 -
Keep in mind you can fire a 22 LR thru in 22 Magnum barrel, but it is not safe to fire a 22 Magnum thru a 22LR barrel.

The cylinders of both revolvers have a nominal length of 1.62". And, S&W offered a .22 LR auxiliary cylinder as an option on the M48.
S&W will tell you that any cylinder change requires fitting by a gunsmith to assure the correct timing & barrel gap.

Before you become completely confused, there are a variety of cylinder lengths depending on when the gun was made. For those in doubt measure a bunch from different time periods. Some are very close but the difference of .005 can make the difference in excessive barrel cylinder gap. If you have to fit the LR cylinder to the magnum then you can create excessive gap for the magnum cylinder. These are things that people forget. As to the rechambering a LR cylinder to 22 mag that is completely safe in a steel K frame six shot cyllinder. The difference in bore diameter is .0005. The soft lead bullet will easily swage to fit the barrel. For those who cast and size their own bullets, many will size .001 oversize for best accuracy. All cylinders have to be checked for correct timing. Some will work as is and some not. Feel free to contact me direct. 0
