Well, a lot depends on if WW-2 vintage,or more modern. You can get a new one for about $50. Vintage ones depend on what vintage and condition. An excellent WW-2 knife can be worth $100. A well worn one maybe $20. Later vintages (Korea, Viet Nam)don't tend to bring the collector interest of the WW-2 knives.
There is some variation in markings over the years on the otherwise pretty much identical knives. Probably have to see a pic to ID which it is.0 -
Ka-Bar has made the USMC combat knife since 1942 and there are many variations. They can run anywhere from $50 to $300 depending on the type, age, finish, sheath markings and condition. Please give more details or pics.
If the sheath is embossed with the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor, it's post-1978 although some unscrupulous sellers try to pass them off as WWII models. Early WWII knives had thick, peened pommels and later ones had thin, pinned pommels. Newer ones have thick, pinned pommels. Blades may be parkerized, anodized or black epoxy powder coated.
New ones in the box retail for around $85 but I sell them on Gunbroker for $50. Also be aware that some people refer to their combat knife as a "Ka-Bar" as that became the generic term for all combat knives but they could actually be made by Camillus, Ontario, PAL, Western, Kinfolks, Robeson, or various other makers.0
