I just purchased a used winchester model 70 xtr sporter magnum in 7mm remington magnum and on the opposite side of these markings on the barrel is the word featherweight, the barrel is 24"long and is clean {no open sights]non of my other xtr sporters have this. The markings are crisp and bright and match the other rifles.any ideas?

My friend has a Mod. 70 in .270. It is a Bohler special made in 1955. I know Bohler is a steel manufacturer. Is the Bohler barrel the only thing that makes this gun "special"? It is in excellent condition. I have no pics but looking for a good ball park figure on what it might be worth. I am thinking about $1100.00 but can find no info on this particular rifle. 0 -
According to the 30th edition of The Blue Book of Gun Values it was made in 1982. I'm not sure how accurate thier dating is on post 64 guns, but I imagine it's within a year or so.

i was thinking for getting rid of it for a ar but i dont know if anyone would take a trade for it at a shop. its in perfect shape i think...... how about ya'll? 0 -
I doubt a shop will trade straight up for an AR, even a used one. What kind of scope is that? 0 -
ya thats what i figured....... just wondering how much cash it would take to make up the differance 0 -

It'll take less cash to make a difference if you post pics like that on auction here. Those show it off well. I would think it will bring closer to that first auction idahoducker posted. Honestly, that's about all you'll get from a Winchester in that model and caliber.
I do recommend you sell it on your own somewhere and not go trade it in. You rarely get what it's worth when you take it in.0
