Colt D.O.B.?
Hello Forum,
Can someone tell me the date of birth for a Colt Commando .38 spcl S/N 44279.
Also, there are some letters and numbers that look to be hand-stamped on the left side of the frame:
L A W PD 155
Lock up is excellent, finish about 70%.
Any ideas?

All Colt Commandos were made in 1942-1943. Yours is pretty late in the serial number sequence and is probably from 1943.
I don't know where the L A W Police Department is, but you have their gun No 155. A police department expanding after the war, maybe.0
